I Love Thailand

The Nation

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejajiva is launching a new website: www.ilovethailand.org on Saturday as an online community promoting national unity on Friday. [KC: The Nation is a sinking ship]

“What will you do to show your love for the country?” is a question from the website.

Requiring membership sign up, the website provides its members with live chat and instant messenger where you can chat with your friends, forum and polls.

KC: This new website could be the answer to all of Thailand’s woes and is the most pathbreaking policy of the Abhisit government to date. The website, with its live chat, forum and polls is certain to lead towards national reconciliation by reminding Thais of their kinship, unity in race and long history of peace towards often hostile neighbours. The highlight of the website so far is this video which reminds Thais of their lost territories in the region:

Observe that the fourteenth slice of lost territory is Preah Vihear. The nationalistic theme tune and animated disintegration of Thailand is all a jingoist needs to feel deep lament and the throb of national pride.

Elsewhere on the site one can exchange sentiments with fellow nationalists such as this one between ‘Highway 311′ and ‘Micheal’:

“Thailand is the paradise for you? Or disturb burning rice fields, alcoholic persons, the unstable politics of this picture?
I Love Thailand.”
Highway311
“I think all what you described is Thailand. Every country has its pollution, alcoholism problems, politics that are not so stabel and so on. But you know my big brother I love Thailand as same as you.”

Micheal

It is clear the site has already made significant contributions to national reconciliation through debate and I look forward to even more insight through development of the forum which has made a terrific start:

LOL. They will have National unity when the gap between the poor and the rich becomes narrower. I really think that the vast majority of the Thai people are slowly saying enough is enough. The HISO’s seem to think they can say anything and they HAVE to believed - the people are slowly seeing through them.

Ah, yes, that video. It’s just what the doctor ordered. If your brain is in need of a good washing, that is.

I wrote about it last year, as well as the recent PowerPoint slideshow undoubtedly based on it that was getting forwarded around during the heat of the Preah Vihear scandal. (My own writing was inspired by a post I read on The Nation’s State.)

    Good times..

    Dear Sir,
I am very please to see this video clip and any comments from friends around the world. We, thai people should not dwell one others’properties, actually. I don’t think we are all animals, because we know what is right and wrong. We would like to be famous in this world by evil deeds. Again, I have never thought our Prime Minister and People are very crazy to live by deceive out of others’ things.

Indeed, I love Thailand, but I don’t like our Evil Thought. Please don’t try to be a robber in this world.
    Thank for your consideration,

The history recorded Thai AKA Siam is just a very small minority Chinese group living in the north part of the Great Khmer Empire AKA Cambodia now a day.It is very sad that the Education system and government still lie to their people. The video sucks trying to fake the history.Poor Thai….

According to http://preahvihear.com/?p=413 the controversial video posted on Abhisit’s new nationalistic website and included in this post has now been removed from ilovethailand.org, apparently due to a diplomatic request from Cambodia. Although the video’s origins are still unclear it certainly has the power to upset Cambodia/Cambodians and understandably so. This website received a torrent of a abusive comments related to the video, apparently by individuals convinced this website produced the clip. Let me be clear: this clip existed long before this website was online and I included the clip with my post to draw attention to the type of content on ilovethailand.org. I did not produce the clip!!!! I am however pleased it encouraged debate, but saddened that most comments I received were nothing more than racist rants, expressing some obviously deep-rooted hatred. I have no intention of removing this video and I encourage further debate on the video’s claims and origins, but please no more racist rants and no more death threats!

The Thai PM completely forgot this website was creating more problems amount its neigb : cambodia and Burma. The hatred between Cambodia (khmer) & Thai (Siam) is too deep. Burma and Thai also had bloody history as well.
This day, the people know the true… stop lying thai. It’s not worsted :-)
As you guys knew, thai try to take over the preah vihear. they keep sending more troop ovver there. Again, they were not aware that Cambodian sent 7 companies of their army to the border of loa, cambodia and thai. Once they (thai) know they starting protecting to cambodia gov… that was not good intention. Well, my dear friends, thai was bad to its neigboor like i said. loa, cambodia are supported by vietname.
    - loa & thai had war in 1980 about land.
    - burm & thai still have border’s problem.
    - cambodia & thai still have border’s problem.
thai army has better equip. but for your record, the last two clashes with cambodia army. they got captured by cambodia army.

    Hi there!
I’ve been doing a lot of research online lately regarding online promotion and SEO since I just started an Thai online shop with a couple of friends of mine.
The information offered on your site would be of great value to GetSiam visitors, and I believe, your visitors would find great value in our site. Because our two websites are complementary rather than competitive, I see synergy here as an opportunity for our mutual benefit and I’d really like to exchange links with you. Have a look at our website if you want, we put a lot of work and effort into it and are dedicated to improve it constantly.
We receive a lot of hits already (contact me for visitor stats) and I think both our sites can benefit from one another.
Anyway, just thought I’d share this with you - keep up the good work and contact me if interested!
